These words weigh heavy on someone's soul 

Thru the eyes ...

Bullying ; the use of force, threat, to abuse intimidate or aggressively to impose domination over others

For the very first time in my life I got the opportunity to sit down and have an interview with what some would call a bully, a monster an abandoned child, what this interview won't allow you to see is the young man who sat across from me in Starbucks was none of that but just a child who seemed to be misunderstood Jordan is 10 years old and attends Middle Oak Elementary school. Jordan's mother was very kind enough to join in on this interview.

Q: Hi, Jordan how are you ?How was your day today?

A: Hi, I'm Fine and  It was okay pretty boring 

Q: What do you like to do for fun ? 

A: Come home from school, watch tv, play 2k with my cousins when I go to my aunts and go on the computer.

Q: What's your favorite T.V show ?

A: Spongebob and 106 & Park I could watch it all day if I was allowed to.

Q: Why aren't you allowed to watch it all day? 

A: I have to go to school that's why 

Q: Do you like school ?

A: Sometimes but most of the time no I wish I didn't have to go and I could stay home all day.

Q: Why don't you like school?

A: No one likes me there and I have no friends.

At this very moment you could see Jordan's attitude change.

Q: Do you know why no one likes you ?

A: Everyone thinks I'm mean and a bully but I'm not mean or a bully, I'm just keeping it real that's what people want for you to be real.

Q: Have you ever made someone cry ? Did it make you feel bad?

A: Yeah lots of times, and yeah it does make me feel bad I don't mean it I'm just playing no one knows that.

Q: Why doesn't anyone know that ?

A: They never ask me.

I started to ask Hydee a couple of questions

Q: How do you feel about what Jordan said about no one liking him?

A: Honestly Jordan is a sweet kid I feel he is misunderstood as a single parent there's only so much I can do. I've tried everything one on one talks, punishments  anything a parent can do I've done. There's only so much doing until you give up. I expect the phone calls home two to three times a week and the detention slips, I'm use to it.

Q: Why are you use to it ? 

A: I just don't feel Jordan will ever change and once people view you a certain way that's it that's how you're viewed in their eyes. I know my son that's all that matters.

Q: Tell me about one of Jordan's incidents at school ? 

A: Jordan had gotten into a fight with this girl in he's 4th grade class. Before the fight happened he's teachers called me and told me he was picking on this girl calling her names throwing paper at her. I confronted Jordan took away the video games everything seemed to be okay for a couple of days, till Jordan took her glasses during lunch and broke them in half and that's how the fight began.

Q: So what did you do about it ?

A: Nothing I spoke to him and he couldn't watch tv for a week Jordan got suspended for 2 days. Sometimes I feel I'm to blame for the way he acts out.

Finally I was getting somewhere 

Q: Why do you feel your to blame?

A: I'm not around a lot I work from 7 to 7 and sometimes I pull a double, everyone thinks I'm raising some sort of monster and that's not even the case I'm just not around a lot. I know who Jordan really is the person everyones making him out to be isn't who my son is. No ones child is perfect mines isn't and I've come to accept that I'm trying to get him into some extra activities after school and someone to talk. I've given up but I haven't given up totally I know the person my son can be.

WHATS GOING ON IN OCTOBER ?!

As the days in September are coming to an end October is approaching. That's a big month for YOUR'E YOU, October is national bullying awareness month! 

To raise awareness we will be doing the very first "PURPLE CYPHER" purple symbolizing the color for strength that each one of our poets,singers and rappers will have. 

Each performer will have 60 seconds to go off accpella ! The 3rd Friday October 25th on 14th street union square. This will be videotaped and professional pictures will be Taken stay tuned !!! Any artist care to join email us @Youreyou18@gmail.com

WHATS NEXT YOU ASK ?! 

Clothing drive everyone :) I know we all have those old faded jeans we don't need or that over sized jacket we just can't stand why throw it away when you can donate them. You're you is doing pick ups on all clothes that want to be donated ! Donations start now !

June 30th, 2013... 3 years in the making

June 30th marked the 3 year anniversary of you're you (stop to Cyberbullying). On this day I didn't want to just remember the hard work that's been put into this orgnazation but I wanted to give back, and not in the way most would of thought but I decided to give back to all the lost children so in honoray memory of them we held a candle vigil in marine park. Along side me was one of the most influential men in my young generation Nigel Scott Morris. Together we gave back in our own special way although many things didn't go as planned we knew why we were there and what we came out to show. 

The speech ! 

Each one of us have went thru or seen some form of bullying we've all done it once without realizing or understanding the effect behind were not here to point fingers but we are here to understand the depth & extent to which it can cause someone to take there own life once they feel there is no way out. Today we honor those who couldn't find the little light at the end of the tunnel like we all have because we too at one point have hit our breaking point. 

For every 1 suicide there is 10-11 attempts  and 1 is just too many. Many people believe that with a click of a button this can easily be solved but what if it can't? 

I leave you guys with that question of the day, what if easily turning off the computer doesn't save your life and it's already embedded in your brain and emotions.

                              Who We Are
You’re You is a non-profit organization that just began in December of 2010 giving children a reason to think twice before hurting someone else through cyber space. Currently 42% of our local children deal with internet bullying and half of this is happening as we speak. A general 35% have been bullied in some for fashion.

You're You focuses on the need to give more thought on things that are overlooked. Most people are not aware that the rate of suicides among children ages 10 and up has gone up a full 29% in the past SIX months! Knowing that our children are our future leaves us questioning our fate. We need to preserve our tomorrow by working with our children today.You're You creates show cases with actors, music and dance gifts to symbolize that you don’t have to be anyone else but YOU. People pick on their peers most often because they don’t want to be an outcast, but a simple gesture of trying to fit can destroy someone’s life forever and leave a lasting effect on a family for the next years to come.

                         What We Do
You're You holds local plays with real upcoming actors dealing with real life scenarios.Each scene has a lesson to be learned and we also have muscial artist (singers,rappers,dancers,poets) who use music to explain there identity. Our shows arent only just a play its a party we have dance competitions for our children with cash prizes, Our face painters allow your children to express there art within theres not a thing our shows dont offer . We putour audience in the lifes of children who actually have killed thereselfs due to cyber bullying No life is to short  for there story  not to be told & no child is to young to be introduced to the life of change.

Why would we not want to do it ? Is the better question knowing our plays and our interaction with parents can help save a life why not? Some people feel as if cyberbullying doesnt have a big effect on children and thats where there wrong cyberbullying is a topic that can be discussed for days and everyone has a different opinon but if you put yourself in a other young childs place what can be done when all the chips have fallen
